Case Study: Nonprofit Website Design + Rebrand

About the Brand

Green Dreams Women is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women in Sri Lanka through sustainable livelihood training and micro-business incubation.

The organization was formed in 2014 and had never had professional branding or website design, so raising the funds that fuel the women’s living wages was difficult.

We developed the nonprofit’s brand strategy, designed a modern and unique brand identity, and launched a new and improved Squarespace website.

The brand’s requirements: traditional Sri Lankan motifs, sustainability, artistry, modern, minimalist

BRAND STRATEGY

We updated the existing mission to be more clear and specific and rewrote the organization’s vision statement to simplify the language and emphasize sustainable growth and community impact. We also defined the organization’s target audience by what guides their ethos and their typical buying behavior. Lastly, we wrote the brand story, defined the brand positioning, created a slogan, and listed brand values.

LOGO DESIGN AND REBRAND

We presented two brand directions after developing Green Dream Women’s brand strategy. The client chose a combination of the two directions and we created a modern and sophisticated logo based on traditional Northern Sri Lankan art motifs with clear and sharp typographic details.

WEBSITE DESIGN

Before we worked our magic, the Green Dreams Women website was outdated, used language that didn’t make the mission, vision, and nonprofit model clear, and had a broken and unusable e-commerce store. We migrated the website to Squarespace and weaved together website copy based on strategy and story-infused. We made the mission clear, illustrated the organization’s impact, defined the model, incorporated testimonials, and clarified calls-to-action for interested parties to get involved. Additionally, we rebuilt the e-commerce store so it was completely functional and visually appealing.

“The logo looks classy and minimalist and conveys our mission in an understated manner. You’ve captured GDW’s essence so well. Thank you for an excellent job telling our story just the way we wanted to. It was worth waiting 10 years for this.”

– Tara Jeyaratnam, Founder of Green Dreams Women
